If you are at home
Report the loss to police and contact the Passports, Emigration and Nationality Administration for the replacement route. Keep the police report, national identity evidence, military-status evidence where applicable, photos, and any copy or details of the missing passport.
The authority will confirm the application form, domestic fee, and collection time for your case. Do not rely on an overseas consular fee for an application made in Egypt.
If you are abroad
Make a local police report and contact the nearest Egyptian embassy or consulate. The mission will verify identity and nationality and state whether it can issue a full passport or a laissez-passer for return.
Bring the police report, Egyptian national ID or birth evidence, any copy of the missing passport, photos, and your itinerary. The mission may request further records before approval.
Emergency travel document
A laissez-passer may be available when the mission approves return travel instead of a full passport. The Ministry's English consular fee schedule lists US$125 1.
Ask the issuing mission about validity, permitted route, and transit acceptance. Confirm acceptance with the airline and every transit authority before travel.
Replacement fees and forms
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs consular schedule lists US$410 for replacement of a lost or stolen electronic passport. It lists US$275 for an ordinary electronic passport 1.
These are overseas consular fees. The mission will give the correct form, payment method, and any local equivalent. Domestic applications use the fees set by the Egyptian passport authority.
If you find your passport later
Do not use the recovered passport after reporting it lost or stolen. Give it to the Egyptian authority or mission handling the case and follow its instructions for surrender or cancellation.
