If you are at home
For this resident guide, home means you are in Saudi Arabia. Report the passport loss or theft to Saudi police and keep the report reference. Notify your employer or sponsor if it manages your residence procedures.
Contact your own embassy or consulate for a replacement passport. Its official instructions determine the evidence, application form, fee, and appointment. Saudi authorities do not replace a foreign passport.
If you are abroad
If you are a Saudi resident outside Saudi Arabia when the passport is lost, report it to local police and contact your passport country's nearest embassy. Tell the mission that you need to return to Saudi Arabia.
Ask the Saudi mission and the General Directorate of Passports what proof of residence and return permission is required for your status before booking travel 1,2.
Emergency travel document
Only your country of nationality can decide whether to issue a foreign emergency passport or one-way travel document. Give the embassy the police report, identity evidence, residence evidence, and itinerary it requests.
Before travel, confirm that Saudi border authorities, the airline, and every transit authority accept the document. A one-way document may not be valid for return to Saudi Arabia.
Replacement fees and forms
The passport form, fee, and processing time come from your embassy or consulate. Use only that mission's official instructions.
After issuance, update the passport details linked to your Saudi residence record through the General Directorate of Passports or the official Absher route available for the case 1,2. Keep copies of the police report and new passport.
If you find your passport later
Do not use it after reporting it lost. Contact the embassy that recorded the loss and follow its surrender instructions. Keep the replacement document details aligned with your Saudi residence record.
