If you are at home
Report the loss to ICA online or in person. The Passports Act requires a report within 14 days, and ICA recommends reporting at once 1.
If you need a replacement, submit the passport application one working day after the loss report. Use Singpass for the online route or attend the ICA Services Centre with the required original documents and copies 1,2.
If you are abroad
Report the loss to ICA online or approach the nearest Singapore Overseas Mission. If the passport was taken in a crime, you may report that crime to local police. A local police report is not required for the online Document of Identity route 1,3.
A citizen working or studying abroad can apply for a replacement passport and collect it at the mission. The Foreign Ministry gives about four to six weeks for passport processing abroad 3.
Emergency travel document
The Document of Identity is an emergency document for one-way travel back to Singapore. Do not use it to continue a multi-country trip or cross borders between other countries 3.
Apply through ICA e-Services with Singpass and collect at the selected Singapore mission. The fee is S$15, payable online by credit card or PayNow. A person without Singpass can apply through the mission, pay S$15 or the local-currency equivalent, and provide the requested identity evidence 3. Processing varies as ICA must verify the applicant's details.
Replacement fees and forms
An online passport application costs S$70. An over-the-counter application at ICA or a Singapore mission costs S$80. Add S$50 for the first lost-passport replacement or S$100 for a later loss 1,2.
| Application | Passport fee | Loss fee | Total |
|---|---|---|---|
| Online, first loss | S$70 | S$50 | S$120 |
| Counter, first loss | S$80 | S$50 | S$130 |
| Online, later loss | S$70 | S$100 | S$170 |
| Counter, later loss | S$80 | S$100 | S$180 |
| Document of Identity | S$15 | None | S$15 |
If you find your passport later
Do not use it. A Singapore passport is cancelled once reported lost and cannot be used again after recovery 1,3.
Surrender the recovered passport to ICA within 14 days. Failure to surrender it is an offence that can lead to a fine, imprisonment, or both 1.
