If you are at home
Make a General Diary report at the nearest police station as soon as the passport is lost or stolen. The official e-passport instructions require the original GD copy and a photocopy of the previous passport with the replacement application 1.
Complete an e-passport application and attend biometric enrolment. The official form records the GD number, date, police station, district, and details of the previous passport 1,4.
If you are abroad
Report the loss to local police, then contact the nearest Bangladesh embassy, high commission, or consulate. Mission requirements depend on the country. The Sydney consulate requires a police report, proof of Bangladeshi identity, photos, an application, and a written explanation for a travel permit 3.
If you have time to wait for a replacement passport, the government e-passport fee schedule lists mission fees for general applicants. A 48-page, five-year e-passport is US$100 for regular delivery or US$150 for express delivery. A 48-page, ten-year passport is US$125 or US$175 2. Ask the mission for its current processing estimate.
Emergency travel document
Bangladesh missions call the emergency document a Travel Permit. It is a one-way document for return to Bangladesh when a citizen has no valid passport 3. The Los Angeles consulate states that its permit is for people who do not have enough time to wait for a new passport and remains valid for three months 5.
Fees and timing differ by mission. The Los Angeles consulate lists US$14.30 and five business days for regular delivery 5. The Singapore mission form lists S$20 for regular service in four to five working days and S$40 for urgent service in one to three working days 6. Pay only through the route stated by the mission handling your case.
Replacement fees and forms
The portal gives 15 working days or 21 days from biometric enrolment for regular delivery, seven working days or 10 days for express delivery, and two working days for super express delivery 2. These are service targets, so use the delivery date on your receipt for travel planning.
| Passport | Regular | Express | Super express |
|---|---|---|---|
| 48 pages, five years | Tk 4,025 | Tk 6,325 | Tk 8,625 |
| 48 pages, ten years | Tk 5,750 | Tk 8,050 | Tk 10,350 |
| 64 pages, five years | Tk 6,325 | Tk 8,625 | Tk 12,075 |

If you find your passport later
Do not travel on the recovered passport after submitting a lost-passport replacement or travel-permit application. Contact the e-passport office or mission that recorded the loss and follow its instructions. The official application records the passport as lost or stolen and ties the GD details to the replacement request 1,4.
